SouthSide—Jefferson

SouthSide Early Childhood Center at our Jefferson location is the largest of the 3 sites with a capacity of 140 students in 13 classrooms aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

100 of these slots are reserved for Head Start/Early Head Start students. 40 of these slots are tuition-based seats. (See the Tuition section on this page for more info)

About Early Head Start and Head Start Programs

Head Start programs prepare America’s most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. To achieve this, Head Start programs deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.

The Head Start program encompasses Head Start preschool programs, which primarily serve 3- and 4-year-old children, and Early Head Start programs for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.

Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide free learning and development services to children ages birth to 5 from low-income families. All programs welcome children with disabilities.

7:30am–5:30pm with extended day*
8:30am–3:00pm
*If a family is paying full tuition, an extended day spot is included in your tuition.

SouthSide at Jefferson is open year-round except for major holidays, professional development, home visits/parent teacher conferences and for spring/summer/fall/winter breaks. These dates can change yearly—please see calendar.
