Hooray for Home Visits!

Home visiting helps our children and families succeed! Home visits have been a hot topic of conversation lately. Early childhood advocates were pushing hard this month to make sure that Congress reauthorizes funding for certain home visiting programs…and hopefully they will succeed because it is so important.

Here at SouthSide, we complete at least two home visits with every child each year. These visits help our teachers and specialists more fully understand the strengths and needs of the children and families we serve. They are an opportunity to connect with families and build the relationship between home and school. Research has shown that home visits are especially important with at risk children, which is why they are such a crucial part of our program.

Home visits are one more way we are working to strengthen families and promote school readiness. Hooray for home visits!
