STEM Learning in Action

Much has been written about the importance of STEM education  (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in the United States. Here are our four and five year olds engaged in STEM learning at the Saint Louis Zoo, extending their classroom to this fabulous St. Louis institution.  They are making predictions about insects, having studied them at school for the past couple of weeks, and now they have a chance to test their hypotheses! Making predictions is a fundamental skill in STEM learning and comes naturally to children. What a great age to teach science - children are curious and excited about the world, and full of creative ideas. Where will this exercise take their minds today - and their futures tomorrow?
